The Alphonso mango grows on the basalt slopes of the Ratnagiri coast, where the soil is dark, the breeze is salted, and the season is short and intense. Everything about the fruit begins here.

Basalt, sea breeze, and a short season

Ratnagiri is a geographical indication for a reason. The dark volcanic soil, the humidity off the Arabian Sea, and the steep hills give the Alphonso its saffron flesh and its unmistakable perfume. Grown elsewhere, it is simply not the same fruit.

The season is short and the fruit is non-negotiable.

The people who read the trees

Our partner growers have tended these trees for generations. They read the orchard the way a baker reads dough — a few degrees of heat, a change in the breeze, a check of the fruit’s blush — and they pick at exactly the right moment.

You do not grow a mango. You help it happen.

Graded by hand

After picking, every mango is graded by hand. Blemished fruit is set aside, and only the cleanest fruit is packed — gently, stem down, and dispatched within hours.
